Make your Online Presence with Lync
Traditional advertising tells us that the more often we are confronted with a brand name, the greater the importance it assumes in our mind. Your Lync profile is no different; It offers an easy way to increase your presence in an organisation.
Setting your Profile Picture
If you are a new user of Office 365, getting used to the interface and options can take time, and perhaps uploading a profile picture is the last thing on your mind. However, this offers a great opportunity to personalise your profile.
The easiest way to do this is to use an existing profile picture from another website, be it Facebook, Windows live or LinkedIn. To do this, navigate to My Picture and click on the image box. From here all you need to do is drag and drop your existing picture into the box. Done!
Changing your status in Lync
The status menu is located just below your name (and next to your profile picture) in the Lync window. By clicking on this menu, you can manually adjust your status. However, it is important to realise that your presence will automatically change depending on your activity. If you are online, off-line, on the phone, away from your computer or in a meeting, your status will be updated for all to see.

Communicating with Contacts
Lync makes communicating with people in your organisation a breeze. To see your teammate’s status, simply hover over the person’s name. Their details will appear.
From here you can another options for communicating. Simply click the appropriate icon to start a phone call, video conversation or to use instant messaging. Other actions, such as scheduling appointments can also be carried out within Lync, although this is also possible using email, or by navigating to a person’s profile page.
